Small Snaggletooth shark dentition
This composite dentition is of an extinct species of snaggletooth shark called Hemipristis serra that lived around 20 million years ago. This particular shark is known for having a unique shaped tooth in each position of the mouth. The composite dentition consists of 52 teeth from different snaggletooth shark teeth that were found in the phosphate mine in Aurora, NC. The average tooth size is 1 to 2 centimeters.
