The Aurora Fossil Museum, through the support of two Burroughs Wellcome Fund grants, has offered free summer science camps for our local and area children for six years. The impact of the program (called IMAGINE-NC) will resonate for decades as it helped youth increase confidence in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields and become aware of concepts that will lead to future careers in the workforce.
Imagine our excitement hearing a child say, “I want to be an engineer when I grow up!” and “I want to be a marine biologist!” and "The IMAGINE-NC Camp gave me the knowledge to score high on my early college entrance exam!"
We are currently planning our 2024 Summer STEAM Camps, which are week-long learning experiences where children ages 8-16 can participate in a hands-on learning curriculum that includes Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.
Thousands of children from our local and neighboring communities here in eastern North Carolina would like to participate in summer camps, but, as you know, many underprivileged households cannot afford the cost to send their children. The Aurora Fossil Museum would like to continue offering our free camps through a scholarship method, but we need your support.
Will you help us make a lasting impact on a child’s life? With your sponsorship, the nonprofit Aurora Fossil Museum can provide Summer STEAM Camp scholarships to children who otherwise would miss this excellent opportunity to experience and learn from top educators, scientists, and engineers, offering age-appropriate learning sessions.
We ask our museum supporters to consider donating to our STEAM Camp End-of-Year Campaign. As a small 501(c)(3) nonprofit museum with a local, regional, national, and worldwide impact, we hope that our supporters will come together to help us with this vital museum goal: to help develop a strong future workforce.
All donations (which are tax-deductible) will receive a letter of appreciation, and contributions of $100 or more will also receive special recognition in the Learning Center and on our STEAM Camp Webpage.
While the STEAM Camp End-of-Year Campaign is active, we will be posting “MEGA-METER” updates on social media and in our newsletter.
In closing, we hope you will consider helping us with this vital campaign.
Yours in anticipation,
The Aurora Fossil Museum Team
